FAQs

Do you have changing facilities and parking?

We have several gender neutral toilets for changing, however most people get changed under the stretch tent. We have a gravelled car park which is free to use.

Can I swim here when I do not own a medical ID wristband?

Yes - on your first visit (which we consider to be a trial) you can use a medical ID wristband “free of charge”. Thereafter you may purchase a band (please order one by clicking here) or if you do not intend to swim regularly at Watersedge you can hire a band when booking your swim.

What do I need to bring for an ‘Introduction to Open / Cold Water’ course?

We advise you bring lots of layers for afterward (loose clothing e.g tracksuit bottoms are easier to pop on), as well as 2 woolly hats; one for wearing swimming & one for afterwards in case it gets damp. Obviously your swimsuit / trunks (and wetsuit if you are less confident although 90% go without). Please ensure you have eaten before the session and don’t drink alcohol the night before.

Can children (under 18 year olds) swim or paddle board here?

Children aged 8 years or over may swim. However, on their first visit all under 18 year olds will be asked to demonstrate swimming competency and access to the lake is at the discretion of the lead land lifeguard. A wetsuit must be worn. The parent or guardian must be lakeside where the swimmer is aged 8-15 years. Swim appointments for under 18 year old swimmers are only available by request.

Children aged 6-9 may paddle board providing they are accompanied on a board by their parent or guardian. Children aged 10 and over may paddle board on their own as long as the parent/guardian is lakeside. A life jacket must be worn and these are available for hire.

Is it beginner friendly?

Yes - many beginners come here for their first swim, all year round. We do also offer introductory courses which happen regularly on weekends so please check our ‘Special Events’ page for this.

Can you swim all year round?

Yes - however once the water is sub 10°c in order to swim here we ask that you have either completed an ‘Introduction to Cold Water Swimming Course’ or take regular cold showers / ice baths. Wetsuits are optional. To book an introduction course please follow this link

How do I book a session?

Head to the ‘Book A Session’ page or click on the pink ‘book’ button which you see throughout the website, such as here:
