Our stunning 11 acre lake has a 750m, 300m and 150m loop, as well as a shallow roped off dipping area for those less confident.
We have RLSS qualified lifeguards, free parking, toilets, a hot shower, and our Watering Hole coffee hut which is open for each swim session. In Winter months to offer greater protection for our swimmers we heat the stretch tent and have a large fire-pit for reheating.
On your first visit we let you use a medical ID wristband ‘free of charge’. But if you’d like to then swim with us regularly please read more below under ‘Swim Requirements’ or click here to order your medical ID wrist band.
Wetsuits are’t compulsory, but tow floats are - they are available to hire when you book. We are beginner friendly and no experience of open water swimming (OWS) is needed to join a session.
Between October - March, we advise you make sure you have some acclimatisation before you come by immersing in cold water, be it in a shower, bath or ice tub. We also ask you read up on 'Things to consider before cold water swimming' and 'After drop & the risks of cold water swimming' before coming.
Children aged 8 years and above may swim with us when the water is above 15°c. However on their first visit all under 18 year olds will be asked to demonstrate swimming competency. A parent or guardian must complete an ‘under 18’s’ appointment which is available on request (email hello@watersedge.club).
If you want to book yourself in for the first time, follow the ‘Newcomer’ button below. If you have a Sports Guardian or Beyond Swim wristband already you may follow the ‘Book As Bandholder‘ button below.

INTRODUCTION TO OPEN WATER COURSES
For those who are new to open water swimming or feel they want to know more about the psychological process of open water swimming we offer courses on most Saturdays throughout Summer and Winter. This is a 2 hour long course which includes a group swim, coffee & cake. These are done in groups of up to 14 people with our incredible certified and experienced Open Water Swim Coach, Gem. A wetsuit is optional depending on your confidence and experience. Please click here to see availability
MENTAL HEALTH DIPS
We offer ‘mental health dips’ which is a free monthly swim for those who are wanting to take part in our main swims but are nervous to do so when it is busy. These are done as 1:1 sessions or as a small group. To get involved in doing one of these please message Sophy on 07920263703.
FULL MOON SWIMS
We hold monthly ‘full moon swims’ on a Friday or Saturday night which entails lighting the buoys and lifeguards up with lights. Swimmers must bring a light for their head or their tow float. We offer food and drinks afterwards.
(SUMMER SUNSET SESSIONs)
Every other Friday from the start of June to end of September we host our notorious ‘Sunset Sessions’ which involves an (optional) yoga session followed by a sunset swim for a further 80 people. Each session sees a different type of music to add to the atmosphere as well as a different street food truck. For more info head to ‘Special Events’.
SWIM REQUIREMENTS
TO ORDER A MEDICAL ID BAND PLEASE
Here at Watersedge all swimmers must wear the Sports Guardian (and Beyond Swim). On your first visit to Watersedge which we consider to be a ‘trial swim’ or if you have placed an order but have not yet received your band, we are happy to issue a guest wristband ‘free of charge’.
The band is scanned on entering and exiting the lake, allowing tracking of how many people are swimming at any time. If the wearer has an accident or medical emergency, the band allows quick access to medical information, including details of any relevant health conditions and emergency contact details.
If you already have a Sports Guardian or Beyond Swim band for use at another participating venue, this band can be used at Watersedge too.
Upon purchase, you will need to download and update the app; this is how the app will appear on your phone. Please make sure to download it and add your details.
How does the Sports Guardian band work?
Your band is laser engraved with a QR code, name, ICE (in case of emergency) contact number, and details of any medical conditions.
If scanned in emergency, the QR code allows venue staff, paramedics and others to access more detailed personal information.
